New GA4GH products
open for public comment

As a community, GA4GH aims to develop new standards, tools, and frameworks that enable data sharing and accelerate scientific discoveries. The following GA4GH products are now open for public comment.

CRAM v3.1 is a file format for storing aligned sequencing reads. The new version aims to achieve:

• Better compression over CRAM v3.0
• Faster decoding at the standard compression level
• Forward compatibility (all CRAM v3.0 files are valid in v3.1)

Please review the specification and submit comments by 14 March 2023 at 17:00pm UTC. 

refget defines a standard way to access reference sequences using an identifier system derived from the sequence itself. Version 2.0 has:

• An updated service-info endpoint in line with other GA4GH standards
• Retrieval of the sequence from other unambiguous identifiers
