Too many women are getting unnecessary mastectomies and other invasive procedures because of a knowledge gap in cancer gene mutations. A new study offers a path to closing the gap, thanks to the data-sharing innovation of federated analysis.
GA4GH welcomes Dr Geraldine Van der Auwera to its standards Steering Committee (SC) as co-lead of the Large Scale Genomics (LSG) Work Stream. Van der Auwera of the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard joins LSG leadership alongside Dr Oliver Hofmann of the University of Melbourne. The announcement follows the departure of Dr Thomas Keane of EMBL’s European Bioinformatics Institute (EMBL-EBI), who has served with Hofmann since the inception of the Work Stream in 2017.
"The Researcher Auth Service (RAS) is a relatively new identity broker that offers single sign-on and multi-factor authentication that allows researchers to carry their approvals with them as tokens based on GA4GH standards."
