Welcome to the quarterly GA4GH Work Stream Updates Newsletter. Learn about progress over the last quarter, as well as opportunities to participate and provide feedback. We also wanted to share a few updates:

🗓 Save the Date for 10th Plenary: GA4GH 10th Plenary will be held at CosmoCaixa in Barcelona, Spain, from 22 to 23 September 2022. View the event website for travel information. Registration details to follow soon.

🧑‍💻 VRS Hackathon @ ISMB (11 to 12 July): The Variation Representation team of GA4GH is hosting a two-day hackathon for interested members of the ISMB community to collaboratively shape and develop useful features supporting adoption of the GA4GH Variation Representation Specification (VRS). Register for the hackathon and submit a project proposal.

📋 GA4GH Hackathon (July): Held over one to two weeks, the GA4GH Hackathon will focus on improving existing GA4GH API specifications and implementing them in new environments. To learn more or volunteer to be a topic coordinator, contact Neerjah Skantharjah.

🎉 Announcing new LSG co-lead Geraldine Van der Auwera: Geraldine Van der Auwera, Director of Outreach and Communications for the Data Sciences Platform (DSP) at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard, joins as co-lead of the Large Scale Genomics (LSG) Work Stream alongside Oliver Hofmann of the University of Melbourne.
