November 19 • Mirage News, Australia
Canada has been a leader in the GA4GH, hosting its headquarters, leading several project work-streams, and implementing many GA4GH standards. CanDIG, as one of the driver projects, has not only implemented GA4GH standards but helped inform and build many of them.
I can drive in Iceland: Enabling international joint analyses
November 17 • Cell Genomics, USA
In this issue of Cell Genomics, GA4GH reports key efforts to help share data across enclaves, including a framework for responsible data sharing, a data use ontology, and approaches for data use oversight. While there remains work in establishing reciprocity between data providers, we envision a future where joint analysis across enclaves is as easy as driving in different countries.
DUO: streamlining access to biomedical datasets
November 16 • Cambridge Network, UK
Biomedical research depends on shared access to human data and streamlining consent to use these data will facilitate discovery. The GA4GH Data Use Ontology (DUO) provides standard terms and definitions for use of biomedical data obtained through informed consent. Standardising this vocabulary allows for automated access to sensitive biomedical data.
